Chios Island - Greek cats
Lagada
Today we went into Chios Town which is a nightmare for traffic, worse than Sydney, way worse. One way narrow streets, lots of scooters zipping everywhere and cars that stop and park anywhere including in the middle of the street.
Chios is a bit off the tourist track and it shows. At the ferry office all the signs are in Greek (I guess we are in Greece) and we had a bit of trouble working out what the time the ferry would be leaving here for the next island – Lesbos. We found that most seem to leave at 4am and 12.30am. It is a 3 hour trip by ferry. Sounds like an early start for us.

Lunch by the sea yesterday in a little village on the north coast called Langada. The drive there was along winding mountain cliffs. The taverna had one waiter who was running back and forth to cope with the 6 or so tables. He recommended the fish and we ordered the 'small fish' which turned out to be sardine sized fried fish.

There were 3 cats waiting at our feet for the scraps. At the end of the meal they were jumping up on Michelle's leg to get her attention. I am afraid they were disappointed as we ate it all up. The whole meal was huge by the time you get the 'big salad', half a loaf of fresh hot bread and some wine. After a few hours (things move slowly here – especially with one waiter) we asked for the bill. The waiter seemed displeased and brought us a mini-magnum ice cream instead.
Cats!
